Item Description
Here we have a stunning example of a Chinese wine table from the late 19th Century, from the Shanxi province of China.
Its made from elm - with a beautiful grain pattern, especially on the table top. It has reeded legs and a simple, yet intricate, carved front. We think it would have originally had a burgundy lacquer, which you can still see, its aged very well, like a fine wine!
In the traditional Chinese home, this wine table was originally used for entertaining guests with wine on arrival, and it was typically placed with a chair on each side. The two drawers provide ample storage space for wine glasses, bottle openers, and other essentials for entertaining.
Today it would enhance any room as a side table!
