Item Description
This low altar table is most likely from the Shanxi area, North East China.
We think it could've been slightly taller and sat up on the Kang.
We've done quite a bit of work on this piece, we've given it a new handle and restored the overall surface finish. We've added in two shelves to make it more versatile. You can see the original gold leaf on the intricately carved details on each side. Its a marvellous and distinct piece of furniture.
We think it would make a unique mantel above a fireplace or a tabletop display cabinet.
The dimensions of the alter table are as follows - H 20.5cm, L - 127.5cm, D - 17.8cm
