Item Description
A nineteenth century, French copper skimmer. This type of skimmer was used for skimming the scum from preserves or stocks. This example is marked “ARMES ET CYCLES ST. ETIENNE MANUFACTURE FRANCAIS”. This is most unusual as this company was set up in 1885 to produce bicycles and I can find no reference to their production of kitchen equipment. It is made from a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1890. It has a turned end, shaped like a shepherd’s crook, so that it can hang when not in use. It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Length 47.2cm. Width 9.2cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £30. Most of Western Europe add £15.
