Item Description
An unusual steel ice or sugar cleaver in the shape of a woman. This is French and it dates from c.1900. The female figure holds the blade in front of her and the handle is shaped like a boot. The handle is made from fibre block and has copper and aluminium fittings. At some time in the past the blade has broken away from the cleaver and this has been welded back into place. This is not obvious but it renders the cleaver for decorative purpose only as it may be unsafe to use it.
Dimensions: Length 31cm. Height 14.5cm. Width of handle 1.3cm.
