Item Description
An 18th century, Staffordshire, white salt glaze jelly mould with a pear to the base. This is very finely potted and has a slightly grey, orange peel effect to the glaze as one would expect with white salt glaze. The moulding of the design is quite, simple but nicely detailed, and the mould dates from c.1750. Moulds of this period are now quite hard to find as they were made for use in kitchens and not always well looked after. This example does, unfortunately have some damage. There is one chip to the rim and three short hairline cracks, all of which can be seen in the images.
Dimensions: Length 11cm. Width 6.8cm. Depth 4cm.
